Hamilton COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Update

Published on January 07, 2021

Frontline health care workers in Hamilton began receiving the Pfizer vaccine on December 23, 2020. More than 2,200 vaccine doses have been administered so far.

This week, about 500 long-term care employees per day are being vaccinated. The plan is for one thousand PSW’s to be vaccinated each day beginning next week.

To date, 6,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been delivered to Hamilton. Hundreds of health care workers will receive their second dose within days.

The Moderna vaccine is expected to arrive in Hamilton within a couple of weeks. At that point, the immunization of residents in Hamilton’s long-term care and retirement homes will begin.

I want to assure residents of Hamilton that there will be enough vaccine for everyone who wants to be immunized. However, it’s going to take some time.
