Province Approves new C.H. Bray Elementary School

 

Hamilton - Ontario's government is protecting what matters most by investing in new local schools to help provide our students with a world-class education system that ensures they have the skills they need to succeed. The province has given approval to tender for a new elementary school in Ancaster. The new school which was formerly called C.H. Bray Elementary will be renamed Spring Valley Elementary School. It will accommodate 495 students and is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces.

The new Spring Valley Elementary School will be a major upgrade for elementary education in Ancaster” said Donna Skelly, MPP for Flamborough - Glanbrook. “This project provides a safe, quality learning environment that will support the evolving demands on our students and education system at large”

Highlights of the new C.H. Bray Elementary School include:

• The new school will accommodate 495 students and will include a new childcare centre with 49 spaces to support families.
• The build is a replacement for the current CH Bray PS and will accommodate students from two neighbouring schools.
• The school is estimated to open in 2020-2021.

Ontario recently announced Education that Works for You, a new plan to modernize curriculum, modernize classrooms and empower educators to better prepare students for the realities of today's modern world. By supporting school infrastructure needs, the government is helping education work for communities like Ancaster as part of a plan to deliver the world-class education system that our students deserve.

“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential. Our financing of the new Spring Valley Elementary School demonstrates our government’s historic investment in capital projects and our overall commitment to supporting public education in Ontario”, said Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce.
